Managing Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
This guide explains how to set up, manage, and disable multifactor authentication (MFA) in the app to enhance your account security.
Understanding MFA
MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of authentication beyond your password. Our app supports authentication apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and similar services.
Accessing MFA Settings
To enable or manage MFA, follow these steps:
- Click on the User Icon --> Account Settings in the top right corner.
- In the Account Settings section, you will encounter a screen that looks like this:
Enabling MFA
To enable MFA on your account:
- Press the "Enable MFA" button – This will generate a QR code for setup.
- Scan the QR Code – Open an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) and scan the displayed QR code.
- Enter Your Verification Code – Retrieve the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and enter it in the field provided.
- Confirm MFA Setup – If the verification code matches, MFA will be successfully enabled.
Once MFA is enabled, you will need to use your authentication app to verify your identity when logging in.
Disabling MFA
If MFA is already enabled, you will have the option to disable it.
Important: Disabling MFA reduces the security of your account.
To disable MFA:
- Press the "Disable MFA" button.
- Verify Your Identity – Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm the action.
- Confirm MFA Deactivation – If the verification code matches, MFA will be successfully disabled.
Associating a New MFA Device
If you need to change the authentication app you use for MFA, follow these steps:
- Disable MFA using the steps outlined above.
- Enable MFA Again following the setup instructions with your new authentication app or device.
This process ensures that your account remains protected while allowing you to update your authentication method.
